Summer Programs
Kama‘aina Kids provides exciting summer programs which may have different dates and times depending on the program and location. Please make sure to review the program details in full to gain the most for your child's experience.
We do our best to remain flexible for our families to ensure your child has a safe and enriching summer. Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Despite our efforts, there are instances in which a site must be capped at a certain capacity due to limited spacing or staff availability. To secure a space for your child at the location of your choice, we highly urge families to register as soon as possible. If you are waiting on the site calendar to make your weekly selections, then we strongly recommend that you at least register for the week(s) in which program is needed to secure your spot. Once a location and/or week reaches its maximum capacity, a waiting list will be made available in place of online registration.
A minimum of 15 registered children per day is needed by May 23, 2026, for a program location to operate.
Our summer day camps are designed for Elementary School-Aged children. To participate a child must:
1. Have completed grades K-5 (or entering Grades 1 – 6 in the 2026-2027 SY), and 2. Have the ability to function safely within our 15:1 student to staff ratio and keep up with the group through the various program-related activities.
Kama‘aina Kids School Age programs are all about building essential, real-world skills—such as communication, creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking—while having a seriously good time. Our staff knows how to turn everyday moments into something magical. If your child is ready to make new friends, learn new things, and have the best summer ever, then we’ve got just the place for you!
Each program has its own, unique schedule, planned by the respective site coordinators. As soon as they are completed, calendars will be posted on our Summer Program pages, at www.kamaainakids.com. Please check the website periodically for site calendars. Once available, you can request a copy by email via support@kamaainakids.com, or by calling 808-262-4538. Once finalized, calendars are subject to change.
Tuition subsidies may be available through the Department of Human Services’ Child Care Subsidy program. To learn more and apply visit DHS Child Care Subsidy Program. Any family applying for a DHS or other, third-party financial assistance or subsidy is asked to make program payment upfront to Kama‘aina Kids and are then to be reimbursed by the third party.
Please note that a letter of acceptance/denial from the DHS Child Care Subsidy program is required to receive consideration for a Kama‘aina Kids scholarship. Both the Child Care Subsidy and Scholarship application process may take several weeks before any notice of decision is issued. Please plan accordingly.
Kama‘aina Kids is an equal opportunity organization and does not deny enrollment or discriminate on the grounds of race, color, religion, gender, or national origin.
In an effort to make our services available to all families regardless of program and income, we have established a scholarship fund. It is made possible thanks to contributions from Weinberg Foundation, First Hawaiian Bank, various other grants, as well as support from the community through the Target Circle Program, Foodland’s Give Aloha program and our very own Kama’aina Kids families.
Although we would like to be able to help all Hawaii’s families with their childcare financial needs, our funds are limited. Our scholarships range from 10%-50% of the tuition after discounts from outside sources. In order to prioritize the scholarships by need, we have a list of criteria that needs to be met in order to qualify for assistance through Kama’aina Kids scholarships. If you wish to request a copy of the scholarship criteria and application, please email support@kamaainakids.com.
