Play-Well TEKnologies - STEM Design Using LEGO

July 23 - August 3, 2018 (WKs 8 and 9)

Description
Power on your engineering skills with Play-Well TEKnologies and gain access to over 20,000 LEGO® parts! Students will engineer their own STEM-based LEGO projects while learning fundamentals in engineering, physics, art, design and architecture through hands on interaction and play.  Design and build as never before, and create engineer-designed projects such as Motorized Walkers, Elastic Catapults, Pneumatic Cranes, Helicopters and Battletracks!  An experienced instructor will challenge new and returning students to engineer at the next level with performance tests, design challenges and modifications to individual and group-based projects. The STEM Design Using LEGO curriculum consists of a 3-hour class, each day, led by an experienced Play-Well instructor. Additional activities—such as cooperative games, arts & crafts, and simple science—will be provided by the Kama`aina Kids staff, when campers are not in their designated STEM design class.

Cost: $230/week (WKs 8 & 9)

Upgrades Available WKs 8 & 9 (Voyager only WK 8)

If you purchase a Camp Kama‘aina Kids summer package, you are eligible to upgrade your summer day camp experience. For an additional $140/week, you can spend a week at the Play-Well TEKnologies – STEM Design Using LEGO program.

Drop-Off/Pick-Up: Family is responsible for drop-off and pick-up at the various specialty camp locations

Keiki-Phit

Description

Keiki-Phit is a compilation of basic physiology and fun activities to enhance the physical and emotional health of Hawaii’s keiki. The program is led by Coach Byron Mello—Head Coach at Moanalua High School and founder of Performance Basketball Clinics. Coach Byron and his team teach “basic” movement patterns and the proper techniques of athletic training fundamentals, with the ultimate goals of enhancing performance, preventing injury and building self-confidence.

Activities also include: Aerobic Exercise and Games, Walk/Jog/Run games, Cooperative “Buddy” games, Personal Best Challenges, S.P.A.R.K (Sports Play and Active Recreation Training for Kids) activities, Basketball and more!

Camp Bishop Museum

Description

Kama`aina Kids and Bishop Museum have partnered to create a special day camp experience, at one of Hawaii’s most cherished destinations. Camp Bishop Museum is a combination of 2 weekly excursions and 3 on-site days, which includes experiential activities and daily access to the Science Adventure Center, Hawaii Hall and Bishop Museum’s latest exhibits. This summer features weekly themes such as Ocean Explorers, Eco-Adventurers, Traveling Bricks, and A Journey into Space.

Description
This summer, join Kama‘aina Kids at Sea Life Park, and discover the wonders of the ocean. Weekly activities include:

  • A Stingray Encounter
  • A Dolphin Discovery
  • Introductory education sessions provided by Sea Life Park's education staff
  • Shows at the Hawaii Ocean Theatre and Dolphin Cove
  • Daily access to all of the park's exhibits
Drop-Off/Pick-Up Sea Life Park, Education Center
Cost $225/week WKs 1, 3, 6, 7, and 8
Lunch Additional $30/week

Jr. Lifeguard Day Camp @ Wet 'N' Wild

Description

The Jr. Lifeguard Day Camp at Wet ‘n’ Wild Hawaii is offered as an introduction to basic lifeguarding skills and water safety techniques for students that have completed grades 4 – 8. Participants will spend an hour each morning working side by side with certified lifeguards from Wet ‘n’ Wild to learn concepts such as CPR & first aid, basic lifeguard rescues, and use of various rescue equipment. Once the daily lessons are complete, campers can spend the rest of their day enjoying the latest and greatest water rides in Hawaii. Participants will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the week.

Upgrades

When you purchase a Camp Kama‘aina Kids summer package, you are eligible to upgrade as many weeks of your summer day camp experience as there are upgrade weeks for the program you want. For an additional $140/week, you can spend a week at the Specialty Camp of your choice. Choose from Camp Sea Life Park, Camp Bishop Museum, or Play-Well TEKnologies.

*Cost: Additional $140/week for weeks 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9 (see each section above to see WKs that run)

**Drop-Off/Pick-Up: Family is responsible for drop-off and pick-up at the various specialty camp locations

* Only available with the purchase of any Full Summer Package. Upgrade to each Specialty Camp is also restricted to the weeks the respective Specialty Camps are open. Please see each section

**Transportation is no longer available through Kama`aina Kids. It is the responsibility of the family to directly drop-off and pick-up their child at the Specialty Camp, during the week an Upgrade has been selected.
