Camp Can Do

At Kama‘aina Kids, our team of trained and motivated youth development professionals constantly strive to instill the can do spirit, in our young campers. Whether it be learning to swim, sail, or kayak, or performing before an audience of peers, Camp Can Do provides a variety of activities and new experiences, all in a safe and cooperative environment.

Waterfront - Kayaking and Sailing

With the naturally beautiful settings of Kaneohe Bay and Iroquois Point as their classroom, campers will have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of kayaking and sailing. Led by our waterfront staff and assisted by our lifeguard certified counselors, weekly sessions will focus on the basics of water safety techniques, paddling, and introductory sailing with the instructional Toppers.

All participants are required to wear life jackets and covered shoes in order to participate. Children must also pass a swim test before the start of the waterfront program. Staff to camper ratio for kayaking 1:7; sailing is 1:6.

Swimming

Learning to swim is important for a Kama‘aina Kid. Progressive learn-to-swim lessons will be provided each week, and led by experienced, certified Water Safety Instructors. At the start of summer, or upon their first visit to the pool, campers will be swim-tested and assigned a wrist band indicating his/her swimming level. Staff to camper ratio 1:7.

Camping

All Camp Can Do participants will go on an overnight camp-out at Camp Timberline [ link to timberline webpage], atop the mountains of Makakilo. Camp out includes meals and camp activities. Prior to each site’s camp-out, representatives from Camp Timberline will conduct a pre-camp visit, for children and parents. If your child does not attend the Camp Timberline overnight, then you are responsible for finding alternative care for those days. Refunds are not issued for missed days.

Excursions

Day campers will have the opportunity to discover more about our unique, island home through weekly excursions. Each excursion is intended to provide a safe, fun and hands-on experience, and encourage young campers to stop, look and listen.
