Kama‘aina Kids provides convention care for 386 kids at the NMA Convention 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada!!

About: This summer, Kama‘aina Kids provided a huge convention child care program in Las Vegas, also known as the “The Entertainment Capital of the World.” Kama‘aina Kids provided services for the National Medical Association sponsored Camp NMA-Zing 2009 for 386 kids (ages 3-21 years old). The program highlighted activities Vegas-style! 

• Kama‘aina Kids provided 28 staff including program director, coordinators and group leaders from Hawaii, 2 counselors from Florida, 7 from California, 4 from Arizona, 1 from New Mexico, 2 from Indiana and 2 from Ohio.

• Excursions included: visits to the Adventuredome Theme Park at Circus Circus Hotel, Shark Reef Aquarium with an Educational Program at the Mandalay Bay Hotel, Hoover Dam, Springs Preserve Museum, Lied Children’s Museum, Las Vegas Natural History Museum, Tournament of Kings Dinner Show and Midway Games at Excalibur Hotel, Rainforest Café Educational Tour and Lion Habitat at MGM Grand Hotel.

• Activities included: NMA Project Sun, Clown Show and Circus Skills Camp with Stilt Art Productions , Mad Science Workshop, Disney’s “The Lion King” Broadway Production at Mandalay Bay Hotel, “Life in the Coral Reef” Educational Program by LVNHM, and a Walking Tour of the famous Las Vegas Strip.

• The 4-day camp finale included the night time culmination of a Magic Show and Carnival which included a caricature artist and face painter for children ages 3-11, and a Pre-Teen & Teen Dance for campers ages 12 and up.
